It looks like we’ll get to see that wedding — and find out the name of Stephanie and Jimmy’s baby — after all! Netflix is bringing Fuller House back for a fifth and final season, TVLine has learned. The 18-episode farewell outing will arrive this fall.
A spinoff of the classic family sitcom Full House — which ran from 1987 to 1995 on ABC — Fuller House follows grown-up D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Kimmy (Andrea Barber) as they move back into the iconic San Francisco house to raise families of their own. Fuller’s roster of regulars includes Scott Weinger as D.J.’s high school sweetheart Steve, Juan Pablo Di Pace as Kimmy’s ex-husband Fernando, Adam Hagenbuch as Kimmy’s brother Jimmy, Soni Nicole Bringas as Kimmy and Fernando’s daughter Ramona, Michael Campion as D.J.’s oldest son Jackson, Elias Harger as D.J.’s middle son Max, and Dashiell and Fox Messitt pulling double duty as D.J.’s baby Tommy.
Almost every major character from Full House — John Stamos (Jesse), Bob Saget (Danny), Dave Coulier (Joey), Lori Loughlin (Becky), and Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit (Nicky and Alex) — has returned for the spinoff, save for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (Michelle). After numerous attempts to get the actresses back on set, former showrunner Jeff Franklin told TVLine, “Personally, I’ve given up asking them. The door is open, but I’m not going to be calling them anymore to invite them. They just don’t seem interested in coming. It’s been three years of invitations, so they know the door is open. It’s up to them to decide if they want to come play or not.” (Franklin was fired in Feb. 2018 over allegations of on-set misconduct.)
Fuller House‘s 13-episode fourth season, which dropped on Dec. 13, introduced some major life changes for the show’s multi-family ensemble. Not only did Kimmy, acting as a surrogate, give birth to Jimmy and Stephanie’s daughter, but Jimmy also proposed to Stephanie, making her an official Gibbler-to-be.

I’m so happy this show will get an ending!
I’m sad it will be over, but happy they get a proper final season.
Sad, but now Jodie sweeten can do a dramatic character. She’s got it!
A bittersweet announcement. I’m happy the show will get a proper ending but I want more seasons!
Hi, I’d like to say plz change your mind quick smart it’s the best family friendly show going around no teaching kids to take drugs, drink alcohol, or bad abbusive language. Guys you are making a big mistake cancelling the show.
But TVLine said it was cancelled…
I believe they said it was *probably* canceled, but they weren’t certain. (Call it one of their bubble shows–before today, anyway.)
I’m sad the show is ending but glad it will get a proper send off !
As for the number of episodes I think it’s Lori Loughlin who said on her instagram account that the final season will have 18 episodes, I hope she’s right !!! And I hope they will come soon !
“Ending” and “cancelled” are not the same thing. I can’t believe I’m having to tell a TV news website that.
Hi Everyone,
Yes, there will be a Season 5 with 18 episodes. At this point appears that Netflix will not be renewing FULLER HOUSE after Season 5 BUT…do not rule out the possibility that IF NETFLIX, actually does in the end game not renew after Season 5, there is always the chance that the show could be picked up by another streaming platform or major network, to continue the show for more seasons. We can only hope. FULLER HOUSE has been absolutely amazing and has brought so much happiness to viewers and fans alike, including the entire cast and and crew. We would love nothing more than to have the show continue beyond Season 5. So please continue to support FULLER HOUSE by not only viewing but on social media as well. I firmly believe that numbers are definitely a deciding factor when the executives are making decisions. So onward to Season 5!! 😁
This is a real bummer. I love the Tanners! I wish it would’ve been on ABC and had the standard full season format.
well at least it’l get something that full house OG didn’t get, time for a proper series finale
I would like to see Michelle join the show, even if it has to be recast. Also I don’t like Steve and DJ together. I really think the past should be left in the past. He should have married CJ… anyway what’s done is done. But would be nice to give DJ a better flame.
Me too I miss Michelle she was my favorite and the show need all three girls
I hope Steve and DJ get married as well now that would be a great finale season
If ABC executives are smart (and judging by a good number of their recent programming decisions in all parts of the day, they clearly have not been), they’ll at least look into the possibility of acquiring the show to put on their revamped TGIF lineup, following in the footsteps of where the original series once resided.
Why ABC didn’t make a more serious effort to pick up Fuller House in the first place several years ago and try to revive TGIF earlier is beyond me. I think it would be a much better fit than each of the single-cam so-called comedies that have been slotted there this season. Plus, at this point, they have to completely regret letting Last Man Standing go.
If Fuller House is going to end, I hope we’ll at least get to see an adult Michelle Tanner in the final season for an episode or 2, even if the role has to be recast. I know that both MK & A don’t want to come back.
Said the same thing. I’ll take a recast if we have to. Just get that box ticked off before the show’s done.
Michelle should definitely be in the finale, no matter whether an Olsen or Olesya Rulin, who I’m sure would do it minus the hassle of repeatedly trying to convince the Olsens. However, if another network picks the show up for a sixth season, a.potential Michelle appearance could likely be cancelled, or at least postponed.
That’s a really solid choice for a recast. I would either pick her or Amanda Leighton (The Fosters). The latter is a bit on the younger side as I believe Michelle should be in her early 30s and she’s only 25, 26. But I think she, like Olesya Rulin, looks like she could be an adult Michelle
Amanda Leighton could pass for an Olsen, although a younger version. Olesya happens to be the same age as the Olsen twins, so I think she’d be perfect for the role.
While I would love more seasons, I’m glad it’s gonna have a chance to have a proper ending. I hope the reports about it being 18 episodes is true and that we get some more surprise cameos from the original series
Michelle cameo. Even if it’s voice/ on videochat… some form would be nice. Good for the show for getting a proper and 18(!!!!) episode ending.
This SUCKS I wanted the Olsen twins to come back
Maybe the Olsen twins don’t want to come back because one of them will have to go
Sad to hear that season 5 will be the end, but glad they will get a chance to end things properly. Love the Tanners.
I love Fuller House!!! So sad its the last season. How do we convince Netflix to keep airing it?
I’m trying to get in there head telling them it’s the only family friendly show that kids can even watch where they don’t learn about taking drugs, drinking alcohol, or hearing abusive language, or see violence. It’s just a tight nit family who work together help each other do fun stuff together no matter how old or what gender they are. It’s hilleriousely funny.
I grew up with Full house now completed watching the fuller house on Netflix I really hope they change their minds. unless FOX can pick up the show like they did with LMS.
Fuller house should not be cancelled. We grew up with them and now our kids are. ABC should pick them up and air primetime. That would be a full circle event. Netflix would be making a big mistake as this show has the potential for many seasons. Listen to what the people want.
I thought TVLine posting an article on “Fuller House” being cancelled after its fourth season was an indication that TVLine must hate “Fuller House”. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case, and I am glad to see “Fuller House” be given a proper farewell soon. IMO, if I was Netflix, I would have saw “Fuller House” get six seasons, though.
I want DJ and Steve to get married and have a baby, Stephanie and Jimmy get married, Gia and Matt to marry and Jimmy and Fernando to remarry. At the very end I want to hear a knock at the door and Danny opens it up and Michelle is there and everyone is sitting on the sofa and see her and that’s it!
Why is Fuller House leaving after season 5? That sucks they will be missed grew up watching full house and now my kids like watching fuller house. Not a lot of shows family shows that you can watch together that are G rated
shoot I wanted to see five more years. I’m really bummed such a good show and good messages too and it’s G rated so the kids can watch. Wish they would reconsider. Don’t make me say goodbye!!! Well it was fun while it lasted Y’all will be missed until next time Goodbye for now
I want DJ and Steve to get married! I wish this show would go on forever.
