From 2024 the Co-Production Forum of the Brussels Short Film Festival & the Co-Production Market of the Brussels International Film Festival merge into one event: the Brussels CoProMarket.

The Brussels CoProMarket is an initiative that aims at supporting promising short and feature films in development and connecting them with potential partners. The event has been divided in three different sections:

  1. Short Film Sessions, specially designed for short films
  2. Feature Films: Gap Financing Sessions, created with a focus on helping European producers with finding Belgian minority co-productions, a selection of European projects specifically looking for Belgian collaborators
  3. Feature Films: UP: Up-and-coming Producers, a section specifically designed for producers in their early career.

The selected projects are presented during pitch sessions and one-to-one meetings. Industry professionals who wish to meet with the project holders are invited to register as attendees.

As part of our partnership with the Festival International Music & Cinema Ă  Marseille (MCM), the Music & Cinema Award is granted to one of the selected projects in Gap Financing Sessions or Up: Up-and-coming Producers. Starting in 2024, a selected short film project will also receive an MCM award.

Trainers
  • Short Film Sessions :

- Isabelle Fauvel :
After six years spent at Flach Films, where she has produced and co-produced several features including Leolo by Jean-Claude Lauzon (Cannes 1992 official competition), Isabelle Fauvel created Initiative Film in 1993. The scouting and nurturing of talents is her key activity, fostering connections and collaborations between screenwriters, directors, producers,  scouting for Labs and tutoring in many workshops.
Isabelle Fauvel has been working as a development consultant for more than 35 years, always seeking an original and unique way of working, and has accompanied numerous French and international feature films.

- Hakim Mao :

After having completed a « BTS » in editing and postproduction, and a masters degree in film writing and directing at the Louis LumiÚre National Film School in Paris where he wrote and directed several short films, hakim comes from a technical background in film making.

After interning on several feature film shootings as an assistant director, he decides to dedicate himself to writing, first by developing his first feature film script at the MĂ©ditalents trans-Mediterranean writing workshop fore over a year, before starting interning at Initiative Film.

Now a project manager, he alternates between the Development Department and the international training programs in which Initiative Film is involved.
