Prolific Writer-Producer Graham Yost On The Challenges Of ‘Silo’, ‘Masters Of The Air’, ‘Slow Horses’ And Much More – Behind The Lens

Graham Yost video interview

Graham Yost, showrunner/executive producer/writer of the Apple TV+ series Silo, may be one of the most prolific of all producers working in television these days; his other credits just this year include fellow Apple hits Masters of the Air and Slow Horses to name two. He has also scored recent hits like Justified, Sneaky Pete and the Emmy-winning The Americans.

Yost has a feature film resume that is equally impressive including his breakout screenplay for 1994’s massive hit Speed; Broken Arrow, Mission to Mars, Hard Rain and The Last Castle. Working with Tom Hanks on several limited series, he scored an Emmy writing nomination for From the Earth to the Moon, and Emmy love for Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Plus, there’s a lot of awards attention currently for the aforementioned Masters of the Air.

Yost joins me this week as we launch a new Emmy season of my Deadline video series Behind the Lens, where we talk about all of the above and especially the intricate, pertinent, and riveting Silo starring Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Robbins in a post-apocalyptic story with great relevance for today.

For a guy who started his career writing kids shows for Nickelodeon and later the sitcom Full House, he has come a long way.

To go behind the lens with Graham Yost and to watch our conversation, watch the video above.

Join me every week this Emmy season for more episodes of Behind the Lens.
