Avatar: The Last Airbender wasn’t only a television masterpiece, it was a breeding ground for some of the craftiest animation writers, directors, and artists. Any project stemming from an Airbender veteran is guaranteed to be unique — yes, even a Voltron reboot — and anyone with unlocked chakras knows to keep an eye out for what’s next from the team.

Which is why all attention is being paid to Netflix’s new animated series The Dragon Prince. The new animated, episodic adventure comes from Aaron Ehasz, the head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender, ATLA director Giancarlo Volpe and Uncharted game director Justin Richmond. And at the series’ San Diego Comic-Con panel, fans got their first taste of what’s cooking in this spiritual fantasy series.

The Dragon Prince tells the story of “two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands.” The trailer exposes this conflict between elves and humans.

The panel also gave us a closer look at show’s trio of protagonists (and their respective voice actors): Prince Callum (Jack De Sena), his younger brother Prince Ezran (Sasha Rojen), and Rayla (Paula Burrows), the moonshadow elf. The official Twitter account later clarified that the glow toad that Ezran is holding is named Bait.

The Dragon Prince will be available on Netflix on Sept. 14. The series social channels have been particularly forthcoming with information (and fan interactions) on Twitter, so stay tuned for further information and goofy tweets.
