She-Ra boss reveals "terrifying" storyline rejected for being too disturbing

"We did not do this because it is.........terrifying."

We're not sure we'd consider animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power to be particularly dark, but creator Noelle Stevenson has revealed the details of one potential storyline that was very dark indeed.

Fortunately, it was just too "terrifying" to make it to the screen.

Following She-Ra season five's release on Netflix, Noelle took to Twitter this week to share one of the ideas behind an early episode of the cartoon, featuring Bow, Glimmer, and Adora.

"While I'm at it, one of the earliest episodes I pitched was Bow and Glimmer finding out that Adora has healing powers and becoming increasingly reckless in battle," she began.

Leaving their fate to Adora, Bow and Glimmer then went on to sustain "more and more dramatic injuries", thinking Adora would always be able to heal them. "We did not do this because it is.........terrifying," she explained of why it stayed on the cutting room floor.

(Literally) illustrating how traumatic that would be, Noelle then shared a drawing of Adora trying to treat a gaping hole in the torso of Bow, which you can check out for yourself below.

In less gory news, Noelle recently spoke to Digital Spy about the potential for another season of She-Ra, or a possible spin-off, after the series concluded in May.

"The story was always defined by the characters' arcs and it's reached its conclusion in the way that we found the most fulfilling," she revealed, but admitted that she was "open" to revisiting the princesses.

"Of course there's always the temptation to want to check back in with them, or spend more time with characters that feel like our friends, but doing so would require additional conflict, which isn't always as satisfying as we want," she added.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power seasons 1-5 are now available to watch on Netflix.
