The early days of Queen Elizabeth II's reign were the starting point of a legendary monarchy. At the time, though, she was just a young woman who had grown up not expecting to ever be queen. She became queen at a tumultuous time in world history and needed to quickly learn how to be the figurehead for a nation at war. Her relationship with legendary prime minister Winston Churchill was a particularly interesting aspect of her coming of age as queen.
