TREY PARKER, MIKE LAIDLAW, MARK ANGUS WIN NAVGTR AWARDS
San Antonio, TX (February 16, 2015) / NAVGTR CORP. — The National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers Corporation, a non-profit media organization, has announced winners for its 14th annual awards program honoring video game art, technology, and production.
Nominations were announced earlier this year at PAX South by Daniela Chunga [Pop Culture Editor, Royal Flush Magazine], Jesse Cox [Co-host, Gamestation podcast], Natalie Casanova [Content Creator, The ZombiUnicorn], Mike Villela [Editor-in-Chief, The Gaming Buddha], Brian Bentley [Writer, COIN-OP.TV], Spencer Campbell [Editor, Hardcore Gamer], and Larry Asberry Jr. [CFO, Open Forum Radio].
Double wins went to Mark Angus for his sound work on Alien: Isolation, Mike Laidlaw for his direction of Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Trey Parker for voice acting and co-writing South Park: The Stick of Truth.
By game, the most wins went to Dragon Age: Inquisition (5 wins). Alien: Isolation, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and South Park: The Stick of Truth each won four (4) awards. Destiny won three awards, while 8 other games won two awards.
After a contentious audience debate at PAX South, Kevin Spacey won for his performance in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, further cementing his status as a disruptor with digital media.
With a surprise Game of the Year nomination, South Park: The Stick of Truth enjoyed strong support at PAX South. The game surprised again by defeating Game of the Year winner Dragon Age: Inquisition in the category of Franchise Role Playing.
By developer, Ubisoft led with 8 awards. Bioware was next with 5 awards. The Creative Assembly won 4 awards, as did Monolith Productions and Obsidian Entertainment. Bungie and Telltale each won three awards.
By publisher, Ubisoft led with 12 awards. Electronic Arts took 8, Nintendo 6, while Activision and Warner Bros. Interactive tied with 5 each. In addition, Sega won 4 awards.
