New Netflix Original Series

Top 5 for 2016

Chelsea Does

This four part documentary series follows the comedian Chelsea Handler as she explores various topics. Handler’s point of view is surely deemed as unconventional and provocative at time, which will give this new series some edge. The show promises to educate its viewers about topics that most do not want to ever talk about.

Marseille

For fans of House of Cards, this Netflix Original Series will satisfy the viewership before the next season. This city mayor must deal with a former protege who is fighting for his power. Expect all the ambition, intrigue, and back door deals that House of Cards brought with it. How far will these two go to secure their municipal power?

The Get Down

New York City. 1970s. A group of teenagers from the Bronx reflect the city itself: broken, violent, bankrupt. The group of teenagers only have their artistic expression, which evolved into what we know now as hip-hop, punk, and disco. The show follows these kids who set pop culture on a new course. Jaden Smith is featured in this new series. 13 episodes each one hour long will keep the viewers satisfied until the next season. Netflix built hype for this show starting in February 2016.

The Crown

Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street. The two most infamous British addresses are now brought to life in this Netflix Original Series. The intrigue, love, and machinations that follow the characters in this have shaped global politics for centuries. The show follows the rivalries that are spurred out of the division of power: one crown, two courts, and two houses. The show specifically follows Queen Elizabeth II’s reign of power. The show is written by Peter Morgan, an Oscar Nominee and stars Matt Smith from Doctor Who. No release date has been announced other then Netflix 2016.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

First came the novel, then the movie…and now a Netflix Original Series. Three orphaned kids try to overcome their new draconian father, Count Olaf. The kids seek answers to the mysterious circumstances surrounding their parents death, Neil Patrick Harris has been cast in this original. The above is just a teaser made my fans of the series. The show’s fate is in jeopardy after Mark Harris left the show. We all are hoping that a new actor is cast and shooting continues. Release might be pushed back past 2016 if Netflix brings no updates on the casting.
