Legendary pushed back its fantasy actioner Skull Island and gave it a clearer title — now it’s Kong: Skull Island, in case you didn’t know which King of the movie apes called the primordial paradise home — as the company shuffled some tentpole dates around today.

The origin tale is set on the fictional island home of King Kong, where a team of explorers led by Tom Hiddleston wade into the treacherous jungle in what Legendary describes as a “new, distinct timeline” within the iconic beast’s canon. Helmed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings Of Summer), the 3D and IMAX 3D pic is moving from November 4, 2016, to March 10, 2017.

Meanwhile, Legendary and Universal have slotted into the Thanksgiving 2016 frame Zhang Yimou’s anticipated Untitled Great Wall Project, which will open stateside that  Wednesday, Novermber 23, also in 3D and IMAX 3D. The story of an elite force making a last stand for humanity along China’s Great Wall marks the Hero and House Of Flying Daggers director’s English-language debut; a December 2016 Chinese release is planned.

A ridiculous name change. Thanks for dumbing down, Legendary.
