Marvel is mum as usual, but I hear they have tapped Krysten Ritter for the lead in the company’s straight-to-series drama Jessica 
Jones. Ritter was one of five actresses who tested for the role. I hear it came down to her and Teresa Palmer, with both doing chemistry reads with The Following‘s Mike Colter, believed to be the choice for male lead Luke Cage.
Spearheaded by Melissa Rosenberg, the 13-episode drama — the second in a four-series Netflix-Marvel deal — centers on Jessica Jones, a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.
Ritter comes from a similar comedy background as Chris Pratt, the star of the latest Marvel hit superhero franchise, Guardians Of The Galaxy. While she recently did several comedy pilots and series, including cult ABC show Don’t Trust The B—-, Ritter also had a role on the dark AMC drama Breaking Bad. She will next be seen in Tim Burton’s Big Eyes. Ritter is repped by WME, Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management and manager Kyle Luker as well as attorney Dave Feldman.

Frail? Jessica Jones is super-powered. She could be a 90 year old woman and still bench press a car. This is not like Black Widow.

Then I realized that it was I who had gotten old, mature and become embittered by life.

Great casting. I liked when she guest starred on the blacklist.
Krysten is on a roll. Her BF is in one of the best young bands in the world and now she has a major platform to become a star. Loved her in Breaking Bad and if the B in Apt. 23 had any decent writing it would still be on the air. She’s great. And no, I don’t work at her agency.

I was leaning toward Teresa Palmer, but I can accept Krysten. She’s cute, just not in a Hollywood way. As long as she dyes at least some of hair, I’m good. She is rather thin, though.
Also, yes yes yes for Mike Colter!!! Absolutely my choice for Luke Cage.

What a waste of role. This is one show I will not be watching.
Should’ve been Daddario and Lance Gross or even Cleo Anthony. I’ve lost more than a little interest in this now.
