Outkast Celebrates Hot 100 No. 1

The members of Atlanta-based rap duo Outkast have a lot to celebrate this week. The pair score their first-ever No. 1 hit, as "Ms. Jackson" reaches the top of The Billboard Hot 100 in its 15th week, knocking Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me" down to No. 3. And group member Big Boi also welcomed his third child this week, necessitating the cancellation of a European tour supporting Eminem.

"Ms. Jackson" continues to perform strongly on other Billboard charts, as it holds at the top spot on Billboard's Hot Rap Singles chart and is at No. 3 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

Despite being knocked from No. 1 on the Hot 100, Shaggy has another track waiting in the wings. "Angel" featuring Rayvon is the fastest growing track at radio, and climbs 12-9 to join "It Wasn't Me" in the top-10. Joe's "Stutter" featuring Mystikal is the fastest growing track at retail, shooting 7-2 and maintaining the top spot on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

The week's top debut comes from the Backstreet Boys' "The Call," which lands at No. 60, and is followed by Bon Jovi's "Thank You For Loving Me" at No. 68, Eve's "Who's That Girl?" at No. 73, and Incubus' "Drive" at No. 75.

As reported yesterday, Shaggy's "Hotshot" (MCA) made it a short stay at No. 1 for Jennifer Lopez's "J. Lo" (Epic) by hitting the top of The Billboard 200 in its 26th week, on the strength of more than 245,000 copies sold, according to SoundScan. "J. Lo" fell off more than 34% from first-week sales of more than 272,000 copies in dropping to No. 2.

In a similar exchange on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, "J.Lo" fell from No. 1 all the way down to No. 8, again making room at the top for "Hotshot" after spending one week at No. 2.

The top debut on The Billboard 200 belongs to LeAnn Rimes, whose "I Need You" (Curb) opens at No. 10, despite the fact that she has publicly apologized to her fans for the release of the album, which she claims Curb Records issued without her input or cooperation.

"I Need You" makes an even more impressive showing on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, debuting at No. 1 and sending Curb's Rimes-heavy "Coyote Ugly" soundtrack down to No. 3.

Jamie O'Neal's "There Is No Arizona" rises to No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart, supplanting Lonestar's "Tell Her," which falls to No. 5. On Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks tally, Crazy Town's "Butterfly" claims the top spot, ending the three-week reign of Lifehouse's "Hanging By A Moment."
