Chart-based stories on Nickelback, and the songs with the most weeks at No. 1 on The Billboard Hot 100.

A CHART ODYSSEY: The year 2001 is history, but this week's Billboard Hot 100 is still made up mostly of songs that peaked last year, including the No. 1 song, "How You Remind Me" (Roadrunner) by Nickelback. We may have to wait a while for the first new No. 1 hit of 2002, as there doesn't seem to be a strong challenger to the Nickelback single, which is in its fourth week in pole position. That puts "How You Remind Me" in a tie for sixth place among the longest-running chart-toppers of 2001.

Here's a recap of the 14 songs that advanced to the summit last year, in order of how long they remained on top:

"All for You," Janet Jackson (7 weeks)
"Fallin'," Alicia Keys (6 weeks)
"Family Affair," Mary J. Blige (6 weeks)
"Lady Marmalade," Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink (5 weeks)
"I'm Real," Jennifer Lopez featuring Ja Rule (5 weeks)
"Stutter," Joe featuring Mystikal (4 weeks)
"U Remind Me," Usher (4 weeks)
"How You Remind Me," Nickelback (4 weeks to date)
"It Wasn't Me," Shaggy featuring Ricardo "RikRok" Ducent (2 weeks)
"Butterfly," Crazy Town (2 weeks)
"Bootylicious," Destiny's Child (2 weeks)
"Ms. Jackson," OutKast (1 week)
"Angel," Shaggy featuring Rayvon (1 week)
"U Got It Bad," Usher (1 week)

With Janet Jackson's "All for You" taking top honors for the longest-running No. 1 hit of the year with a seven-week reign, 2001 is the first year since 1993 that there hasn't been at least one No. 1 hit with a double-digit run.

Here is a summary of the songs that have been No. 1 for 10 weeks or more since 1993:

"One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men (16 weeks, 1995)
"I'll Make Love to You," Boyz II Men (14 weeks, 1994)
"Macarena" (Bayside Boys Mix), Los Del Rio (14 weeks, 1996)
"Candle in the Wind 1997" / "Something About the Way You Look Tonight" (14 weeks, 1997)
"The Boy Is Mine," Brandy & Monica (13 weeks, 1998)
"Smooth," Santana featuring Rob Thomas (12 weeks, 1999)
"I Swear," All-4-One (11 weeks, 1994)
"Un-Break My Heart," Toni Braxton (11 weeks, 1996)
"I'll Be Missing You," Puff Daddy & Faith Evans featuring 112 (11 weeks, 1997)
"Independent Women Part I," Destiny's Child (11 weeks, 2000)
"Maria Maria," Santana featuring the Product G&B (10 weeks, 2000)

The last time the longest-running No. 1 of the year had a run of less than seven weeks was 1990, when Stevie B's "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)" was the year's most enduring chart-topper, with a reign of four weeks.
