[SC2] Quarterfinals mix up - Statement inside
14.10.2011 22:16

Statement regarding the incident

A referee has made a terrible mistake. We cannot undo that - an undeserving player is in a situation which should not have happened.

Gatored got wrongly seeded into the tournament bracket as the #1 seed instead of DRG who received the #2 player's seed in the bracket. As a result, the two players were placed in the wrong part of the bracket and TT1 played a player he was not supposed to. Unfortunately the error was discovered during the match and not before. The result cannot stand.

I deeply regret that such a mistake happened at such a time, but we cannot undo it. We canceled the match and fixed the bracket layout. Nothing else could be done.

All I can do right now on my behalf and on behalf of the referee is apologise to the players involved in the match, their teams and the fans that followed the match. This should not have happened and I will do everything for this to never happen again.

I regret this has happened and I apologize.

Michał "Carmac" Blicharz

As a result it also has been decided that TT1 will receive prize money equal to a top 4 placement should he not advance further.

The new quarterfinals are now the following:

Killer vs. FruitDealer
Gatored vs. TOP
TT1 vs. DongRaeGu
KiLLeR vs. elfittaja

Statement regarding the delay
13.10.2011 21:19

The New York Global Challenge was plagued by delays to all three tournaments.

The delays stem from the fact that the network provided by the venue is was not up to the required standard. We did not want to start the tournament without starting the broadcast.

The venue seems to have solved the issue and we are back on track.

We sincerely apologise for the delay and we hope that you are enjoying the broadcasts now.

The League of Legends team Sypher had to cancel their participation. This spot will be taken by CLG while we are still seeking for a replacement for the last open spot.

***Update***
As you were! Due to a misconception we announced Sypher's cancelation some minutes ago. The fact is, the French LoL team will travel to New York and will participate in our tournament. Therefore we won't change groups and CLG stays in that tough group A.

On Thursday the 13th of October the Global Challenge New York will kick-off at the New York ComicCon. For four days many of the best professional gamers in the world will compete in Counter-Strike, League of Legends and StarCraft 2 for a total of $93,000 in prize money.

October 13th - 16th 2011 - USA, New York Comic Con

[SC2] TOP and FruitDealer will attend New York
10.10.2011 16:25

The last two spots for the StarCraft 2 tournament have been filled.

Former GSL champion FruitDealer and Code S finalist TOP will be competing in the $21,000 tournament from the 13-16th of October in New York. World-class Terran TOP will find himself in Group C against young-guns MaNa and Pokebunny and seasoned veteran TT1. Meanwhile Zerg-maniac FruitDealer will face Axslav, Edge and Guangzhou finalist elfittaja in Group D.

This completes the StarCraft 2 tournament roster after DongRaeGu and Killer were announced a few days ago. Below you can see all the groups for StarCraft 2, League of Legends and Counter-Strike. On a sidenote, Black & Yellow replaces Backfire in the Counter-Strike tournament.

DongRaeGu, Killer, CLG and more for New York
07.10.2011 19:06

New York's participants almost complete

After finishing the Global Challenge Guangzhou we will already be back next week with another big tournament. Today we want to announce two new additions to our StarCraft II participants as well as some exciting replacements.

StarCraft II
With DongRaeGu and Killer we've got two top StarCraft II players from Korea. You may remember Killer from our first season 6 event at gamescom. For DongRaeGu it will be his first appearance in an Intel Extreme Masters tournament. Furthermore we had to replace qxc with Strifecro in group B, since he cancelled his participation.

Counter-Strike 1.6
Unfortunately there wasn't any Asian team able to come and on top of this M5 from Russia didn't get visa. Winfakt will replace M5, since nobody else from Europe was able to confirm their trip to New York on such short notice and the American team from UMX receives the Asian spot.

League of Legends
In League of Legends there was a similar situation regarding the Asian teams, which is very sad in consideration of their performance in Guangzhou. This is the chance for Counter Logic Gaming. Despite their bad performance at the American NY qualifier we will see gamescom's champion again, but it is going to be a tough groupstage with Solomid, fnatic and Dignitas.

You'll find all groups at the top of the GC New York website.

[CS] WinFakt to replace Moscow Five in New York
28.09.2011 17:30

The Russian team Moscow Five will not be able to attend the Global Challenge New York because one of their players will not be able to obtain a Visa. Out of the possible replacements, WinFakt was the first team who accepted to fill the open spot.

The Finnish team will now be the third European representative for Counter-Strike together with mTw and SK Gaming. WinFakt will be in Group B where they meet SK Gaming from Sweden, Temporary from the United States and semXorah from Brazil.

The match started out with a very intense de_nuke which went into double overtime before mousesports was able to win. SK managed to fight back and won the second map on de_inferno straight with 16:11. The final and all deciding map was then de_dust2 where SK-Gaming sealed the deal with 16:7.

vedimak from HRG banned from ESL
06.09.2011 17:18

HighRollersGaming member vedimak receives a 2 year ban from all ESL competitions.

The player was found guilty of trying to bypass the ESL Wire system during the latest qualifiers for the Global Challenge New York. The discovery was a result of new detection methods that were added to software recently. In addition he also used a fake profile on the ESL page.

Rumours had started in the community after HRG received public attention due to their win against Polish top team Frag eXecutors in the first European pre-qualifier for the Global Challenge New York. The team would go on until round 4 where it lost against Moscow Five, who went on to qualify for the final qualifier next Saturday.

Meanwhile the games SK Gaming vs. Electronic Sahara and WinFakt vs. Alternate ATTAX have not yet been rescheduled. They were ruled to be replayed by the ESL admins after Electronic Sahara and Alternate complained about a rule violation regarding the Linesman plug-in for ESL Wire.

First European StarCraft 2 qualifier moved by two days.

The first European StarCraft 2 qualifier for the Global Challenge New York was supposed to happen tonight but it has been moved to Thursday. The reason for this is a scheduling conflict with the German ESL Pro Series which would have prevented several players from competing in the qualifier.
