CHANNEL [V] International and Makisig Network Announce the Launch of [V] Philippines
Tagalog language content block on [V] International set to launch with an expanded distribution for the channel on Sky Cable

Hong Kong / Manila, 26 February 2009 –

CHANNEL [V] International, a wholly owned subsidiary of STAR and South East Asia's leading music and lifestyle channel, and Makisig Network, a Manila-based media company, today announced an agreement to launch the [V] Philippines content block on CHANNEL [V] International while also expanding the channel's distribution in the Philippines.

Produced and developed by Makisig Network, the up to three-hour [V] Philippines content block will launch on or before June 1, and will feature Tagalog-language content geared towards youth audiences across the Philippines. Local VJs and local bands and artists will make up the bulk of the content offering.

As of March 1, Makisig Network has included CHANNEL [V] International in its bouquet of basic tier channels on Sky Cable (Channel 59).

Cheah Chee Kong (CheeK), Executive Vice President, STAR, commented, “CHANNEL [V] International is a vital brand for young people across Asia and we are thrilled to see it grow its presence and localize in a market that truly loves music and popular culture as much as the Philippines. We look forward to working closely with Makisig to cement CHANNEL [V] as the go-to destination for youth entertainment in the market.”

“Makisig Network looks forward to a long and fruitful relationship with a renowned music and entertainment channel in Asia that has long been popular in the Philippines. CHANNEL [V]'s rich and varied content and programmes are perfect match to Makisig's new direction, that of providing entertainment for the youth. The partnership also calls for major events that can be held in Manila, featuring international and local artists,” said Jacque Ruby, President of Makisig Network.
