Is America now a third-world banana republic? Maybe not quite yet, but we are rapidly descending ever-closer to such an ignominious status. Last week's unanimous guilty conviction of former President Donald Trump in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's extraordinarily dishonest criminal case marks yet another new low for a country seemingly experiencing a fresh new low each week. The Democrat-Lawfare Complex is playing with an extraordinarily dangerous fire here. Pandora's Box has been opened—many times over—and it is impossible to know where things unravel from here. How in the world did we reach this point, where a former president might go to jail—at the behest of the opposition political party? And what in the world should the Right do from here?
For details, read my most recent column and check out the most recent episode of "The Josh Hammer Show," which were both dedicated to exploring these same themes. As a reminder, you can listen to all episodes of "The Josh Hammer Show" at the Newsweek website or on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. I also launched a second (legal-themed) show, "America on Trial with Josh Hammer," with The First; you can subscribe and listen to daily (Monday-Friday) episodes of the show on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Make sure to subscribe to both shows and leave your reviews!
Some other highlights from my past week include appearances with Charlie Kirk, Steve Bannon, Steve Deace, Daniel Horowitz, Sara Gonzales, former Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.), Jenna Ellis, Rita Panahi, NTD News, One America News Network, Mike Slater, Morgan Ortagus, Rod Arquette, "The Vince Coglianese Show," Mark Reardon, and John Phillips. I also filled in last Wednesday for Jesse Kelly's TV show on The First, and I rejoined The First last Thursday to deliver an instantaneous reaction to Trump's guilty verdict right after the terrible news broke. To keep up with everything I'm doing, make sure to follow me on Twitter/X, Instagram, and Facebook.
In related news, I'm also delighted to be speaking at next month's National Conservatism Conference ("NatCon 4") in Washington, D.C.! I will also be back in our nation's capital later in July, where I look forward to speaking at Young America's Foundation's ("YAF") 46th Annual National Conservative Student Conference.
