SVU’s Mariska Hargitay Is Plotting Next Organized Crime Crossover With Chris Meloni: ‘It’s Time Now For Us’

If you thought Law & Order: SVU‘s Season 25 finale hinted that Benson’s fledgling reconnection with Stabler was dying down, sounds like Mariska Hargitay would like you think again.

The SVU star recently told our sister site, Variety, that she and Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s Chris Meloni already have discussed how to keep crossovers between their two shows going despite Organized Crime‘s upcoming move from NBC to Peacock.

She reported that she’d recently met Organized Crime showrunner John Shiban. “They want us together, and Chris and I were talking about it, and it’s time,” she said. “It’s time now for us. This was a long time not being in each other’s universe. That’s why we did the calls and stuff like that. But we’re excited to get back in there, get back in the ring.”

Hargitay referred to how Stabler left a voicemail for Benson at the start of Organized Crime‘s most recent season, and Benson and Stabler had a phone call at the end of SVU‘s Season 25 finale (read a full recap), but there hasn’t been a true SVU/Organized Crime crossover since both shows’ previous season-enders.

After Organized Crime‘s Season 5 renewal and subsequent move was announced, TVLine asked Jeff Bader, resident, program planning strategy, NBCUniversal Entertainment, what would become of the crossover events. “I want to say yes” to crossovers, he said with a laugh. “But no, we have not heard anything about the creative for next season yet.” In addition, there is no guarantee that OC will stream in the fall, when SVU is back for Season 26.
