If you thought Law & Order: SVU‘s Season 25 finale hinted that Benson’s fledgling reconnection with Stabler was dying down, sounds like Mariska Hargitay would like you think again.
The SVU star recently told our sister site, Variety, that she and Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s Chris Meloni already have discussed how to keep crossovers between their two shows going despite Organized Crime‘s upcoming move from NBC to Peacock.
She reported that she’d recently met Organized Crime showrunner John Shiban. “They want us together, and Chris and I were talking about it, and it’s time,” she said. “It’s time now for us. This was a long time not being in each other’s universe. That’s why we did the calls and stuff like that. But we’re excited to get back in there, get back in the ring.”
Hargitay referred to how Stabler left a voicemail for Benson at the start of Organized Crime‘s most recent season, and Benson and Stabler had a phone call at the end of SVU‘s Season 25 finale (read a full recap), but there hasn’t been a true SVU/Organized Crime crossover since both shows’ previous season-enders.
After Organized Crime‘s Season 5 renewal and subsequent move was announced, TVLine asked Jeff Bader, resident, program planning strategy, NBCUniversal Entertainment, what would become of the crossover events. “I want to say yes” to crossovers, he said with a laugh. “But no, we have not heard anything about the creative for next season yet.” In addition, there is no guarantee that OC will stream in the fall, when SVU is back for Season 26.
TVLine has reached out to NBC and Wolf Entertainment for comment.
We know you have thoughts, SVU and OC viewers: Hit the comments and let us know what’s on your mind!
The second they make OC about a Stabler and Benson romance I’m gone. I watch crime shows for crime shows. Not who’s sleeping with who or whatever. Until then I will continue to watch OC on Peacock when it moves there, I don’t watch SVU anyway.
True, the potential romance between stabler and Benson is the weakest plot in organized crime. OC is really good with unhinged Stabler rediscovering himself and his family and the partnership with Bell and the team. And logistically The two are lead in their own show with very different concept and showrunners, How will they manage that? Look at all Chicago romance failed except the two with less stories on their own show. I only see this happening if both shows are ending.
I love all the Laws & Orders, but I’m not gonna subscribe to Peacock
I think the whole thing of OC going to peacock is ridiculous! I read that their numbers were not that far off…..so leave it alone! Or give it one more season and wind it up. Get Benson and Stabler together……it’s way past time!!!!!
Ugh…can we stop with the 2 of them as a couple!!?? So not interested! They have zero romantic chemistry!!!
As much as I would love them finally get together, I already gave up hope it will ever happen. Mariska’s teases sound nice, but I’m not gonna get excited. Especially now with OC moving to Peacock.I believe it’s happening, when I see it.
This seems like a cynical tease to get Bensler fans to subscribe to Peacock, and these crossovers really screw up the continuity in syndication. Unfortunately I won’t be able to follow OC over to Peacock, but it was really trending in a good direction this season creatively.
Stop it Mariska‼️ Leave Elliot Stabler and L&O:OC alone‼️ The ship has sailed. You and Elliot has ZERO sexual chemistry. Go find other romantic interest in your OWN SHOW. Do NOT wanna see you in L&O:OC. Bugger off‼️ 👌🏻
.
This is a cheap marketing ploy! 🙄
I would like stabler to stay on N B C. I don’t have peacock. Both shows make my night go good at work
Get them together finally.
I believe that the world’s audience is SO Ready for the Tease to be Over. They have been each other’s true love since Season 1… No offense to Stabler’s wife…but let’s be real, the term work husband/wife…well they created it! Those who don’t see the chemistry are truly fooling themselves. It fills up the room and the TV screen. I honestly think it would be better to have them together and remain on separate shows. It makes it real world somehow. I think it would be interesting to see their dynamic at the end of a long day, sharing about and bouncing trauma about their day with each other.. even if it’s just a closing scene at the end of a few episodes. There’s no need to clog up plots or logistics to do crossovers and such unless it’s truly a crossover. They’re ready for it and we’re ready for it. I love both shows for their own unique merits. I actually watch both shows streaming on peacock. So this is a non issue for me.
Well said!
We don’t have paramount here in canada. I’m upset. How are we supposed to watch it especially if they do crossovers
It will be on Peacock, not Paramount.
Interesting that this is happening now that OC is moving to Peacock. It’s like they moved OC and dropped this to see if they could get Peacock subscriptions up. Well that and the fact that they are trying to keep OC from losing viewers with the move to streaming.
Benson and Stabler have the chemistry of siblings not lovers. There is NO NEED for either SVU or OC to give any more time to attempts at ‘Bensler’ romance.
It’s time to wave goodbye to both of these shows. The writing on SVU is horrendous. Hartigay uses the same old lines when she’s talking to victims and they don’t have as much of a punch, pardon the pun, as they once did.
YES it is about time for Bentson and Stabler to get together. Long time fans have been waiting for this to happen with a happy ever after.
I’ve watched Law & Order SVU since the first show! I have also watched all of OC too. I enjoy the crossovers as well.
Of course, I would like for OC to remain on👍
