this is a review aimed at how the chair operates in the butt of a music producer/musician.
first off, i'd want you to think clearly, why you'll choose a gaming chair over a office chair for producing music.
tbh, what sold me on this chair was the looks and the support pillows (so i thought).
after about a month of use, the chair itself is comfortable, but as everyone else mentioned the bottom cushion support is terrible.
during mixing sessions, i find myself moving around and just taking a break from just being so uncomfortable.
but regardless, the comfort of this chair beats my old ikea computer chair by miles. don't let all the negative comfort reviews fool you.
for mixing sessions, we need to be able to have the speakers at ear height. this chair is very seldom in height adjustment. the armrests are fairly far apart and useless if not put all the way up.
the best thing about the chair is the ability to lean far back & rocking position. very great during studio breaks & to vibe out to some tunes and relax.
after a month of use, i realized the lower lumbar pillow is so uncomfortable. i looked at the reviews on amazon, but there were seldom complaints.
here's what i did.
i took the pillow out and jumped on it, like i was trying to make wine. i then put the lumbar pillow under my mattress for two days. *REFER TO THE PICTURE* you can tell the pillow is much more flatter. the pillow itself came way too firm and out for you to feel comfortable in the chair. bc the chair itself is more comfortable without it, but then you lose that lower back support.
now i feel the chair works a lot better with the flattened lumber pillow.
overall, the gt racing chair is great for its price. if you have the money, i'd go up and get the more expensive secret lab chairs.
i love the ability to sit up super straight when i'm in my music mode zone, and the ability to just relax when i need a break.
i'd recommend this to any budget bedroom studio.
as far as playing the piano on this chair, it's not very comfortable. id rather stand up. but just make sure your height adjustments are good from your desks to your speakers.
this is a great chair to keep you focused. keep making music! do it for the love, nothing else. all the money, fame, success will come. as long as you create for the right reasons, & know in your heart this is your purpose. much love to all my fellow musicians! <3
