UPDATE: I’m keeping the stars at 4 just like before because I am truly loving this magnetic battery. I did, however want to forewarn to Not lay this down on its back while attached to your phone and charging. The battery has a tendency to get hot if the backside is covered. It also makes the metal kickstand really hot if that happens.
If you lay your phone down on it’s face while the battery is attached and the battery’s back is facing up, all will be well and cool.

Just to be really clear, don’t cover this battery up with anything while in use. I wouldn’t put it in your pocket or purse or anything like that when it’s attached to your phone. Lay it down or store however you want when not in use however. No worries there.

Don’t misunderstand, this thing has been awesome and I would buy it again. You just have to know how to use it is all.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I struggled with whether or not to remove a star as this battery functions perfectly, but I decided to go ahead so that others would know one “Con” that might deter some folks - It’s a bit on the heavy side. HOWEVER, I discovered that the kickstand on the back, when popped open, allows me to rest my finger through it which helps a great deal in supporting the weight without too much finger/hand fatigue. And, In all fairness, I had both my adult daughter and son test out the hold/weight and neither of them were at all bothered. The battery weighs in at just under ½ lb by the way. Add that to the weight of your phone and you’ll have a pretty good guess to the overall weight you will experience.

The major “Pro” with the bigger 10,000 mAh of storage over a 5,000 mAh however is that I can skip a day of charging it and know I still can fully charge my iPhone 13 Pro for a 2nd time before draining this battery completely. Could I have gotten by with the 5,000 mAh storage instead? Probably so, but if I forgot to charge it every day, I’d be without power considering this is now my primary source of charging. I’m quite enjoying not worrying about it every other day.

Which brings me to my next major “Pro”:

I am Finslly untethered! For years now I have used Anker’s 10 foot lightning charging cables (which I highly recommend if you want to be wired up with something that actually works 100% of the time) but decided I was done with that method. I first bought a cable-connected battery pack to make the change but that was a pain. in. the. be-hind. and worse than just using a straight lightning cable as it was awkward and cumbersome. To be clear, I’m a use-my-phone-while-charging-it girl so the freedom I’ve felt in now using this magnetic battery pack is beautiful. I’m in hotels, airplanes and airports (and sadly, hospitals) enough to where charging accessibility is a very big deal for me. Hence the previous 10’ cables. AND I took to heart what others had said about Anker’s MagSafe batteries Not getting blazing hot while using the phone like other cheaper brands, so I went with Anker. I’m not sorry I did. Occasionally as I’m using my phone and the battery pack is connected, I’ll feel a little warmth but that’s it. And it often goes away pretty quickly for whatever reason. Whether you choose the charge-every-day 5k mAh Anker magnetic battery pack or their last-an-extra-day 10k mAh like me, I highly recommend this battery over the other brands. Just do it. You won’t regret it.
