Worked great for 2 days.
Over the years we have used several different brands of aftermarket chargers and cords for our iPads and iPhones. We always have the same problems. They work good for a few days/weeks, then they get finicky. This is the first time we used Amazon Basic and I expected it to be a better quality than other cheap brands. Unfortunately, I was wrong.
Straight out of the package I plugged this in to my iPad and it worked perfectly. It charged quickly and I was happy to get a 6’ cord so that I could stay charging all the time. (My battery is getting old and drains quickly) My happiness lasted 2 days, then I started getting alerts that the accessory was not supported or whatever, and the iPad and iPhone quit recognizing that it was plugged in. I had to unplug the cord, then unplug it from the USB wall plug, and then unplug that from the wall. After completely resetting everything, it started working again. Other times, I could just jiggle the lightning male end of the cord, and it would start charging again.
You can’t just plug this in the iPad/iPhone and expect it to work. You have to check to make sure it’s charging and possibly do some fidgeting with it to get it going. Then you have to be careful not to bump the cord or it might stop again. This is the same problem I have had with every other off brand accessory I’ve had, but I was hoping the Amazon brand would be better than the others.
It’s only been a week and it hasn’t quit completely yet, but I don’t expect it to last more than a month, based on past experience with this problem.
Now the one good feature is that the male lightning end is smaller than other brands, which means it can be used with protective cases in place. I have the top of the line OtterBox cases on my iPad and on my iPhone, and this is a snap to hookup. Other brands were either to big to fit in to the slots on these cases or were a struggle.
The cord is a good thick braid and is really stiff. It should last a long time and can probably take a lot of abuse.
