TL;DR: This Anker 315 is better than the Anker 313

I originally bought the Anker 313, which I believe is the 315's predecessor. The older Anker 313's upper surface was made of rubber that had a weird smell to it no matter how much I cleaned it. My guess best guess is that maybe the porous rubber absorbs environmental odors over time. Or maybe the particular compound of rubber used just inherently has a weird smell. The 313's odor issue was a dealbreaker for me so I tried out a non-Anker charger instead: that one didn't work out for me for other reasons.

Now, come full circle, and I'm back to Anker but this time with the newer 315. I'm happy to report that the 315's surfaces are made of a slick plastic that does not emit any kind of weird odor — it's also much easier to wipe clean compared to the 313's rubberized surface. Moreover, the 315 is more compact and visually sleeker than the 313. Charging-wise the 315 matches if not beats the 313's performance as far as I can tell. AND the 315 is the same price if not cheaper than the 313 (as of the date of this review). In short, there's no reason to get the Anker 313 - just get this Anker 315 instead.

Note: Make sure you consider Anker's recommendations for which wall charger (not included) to use if you want to maximize charging speed.
