UAE president to make state visit to S. Korea next week
SEOUL, May 22 (Yonhap) -- Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will make a state visit to South Korea next week to discuss ways to deepen bilateral ties, the presidential office said Wednesday.
Mohamed will visit South Korea from May 28-29, which would mark the first state visit to the country by a UAE president.
President Yoon Suk Yeol will meet Mohamed to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including economic investment, energy and the defense industry, the office said.
Yoon made a state visit to the UAE in January 2023 and held a meeting with Mohamed, in which they agreed to expand cooperation in the nuclear power, arms and energy sectors, among others.
From the escorting of Yoon's jet by UAE fighter planes to an official welcome ceremony at the presidential office in Abu Dhabi, the state visit was an elaborate affair from beginning to end.
