Look: Dakota Allen signs rookie contract with Rams

The Los Angeles Rams typically wait to sign their rookie draft picks all at once, but that may not be the plan this year. The team announced Friday that it has signed seventh-round pick Dakota Allen to his rookie deal, Los Angeles’ first 2019 draft pick to get under contract.

The Rams shared this video on Twitter of Allen putting pen to paper.

Allen was the Rams’ last pick in the 2019 draft, going 251st overall out of Texas Tech. He didn’t take a straight-line path to the NFL, though. He was dismissed from Texas Tech after a burglary arrest in 2016 and enrolled at East Mississippi Community College where he was able to continue playing football.

He was featured on Netflix’s “Last Chance U” series and after one year at EMCC, he re-enrolled at Texas Tech and played his final two years of eligibility with the Red Raiders. Now he hopes to carve out a role with the Rams, be it on defense or special teams.
