EW's editorial guidelines Published on October 19, 2023 10:12AM EDT Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell are putting the "help" in "healthy relationship" in the new trailer for their upcoming R-rated romantic comedy, Anyone but You. Directed by Will Gluck, the film follows college classmates Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell), who briefly dated in college before their relationship soured, as they're forced to spend time together at their friend's Australian wedding. However, with their respective exes also in attendance at the ceremony, Bea and Ben strike up a deal to pretend to be a couple again. "Let's just tell everyone we're together," Bea proposes. To which Ben bluntly replies, "What?" And, well, if the trailer is anything to go by, the "couple" will certainly hit a learning curve or two when it comes to pulling off their foolproof plan. In one scene, Bea visibly flinches when Ben grabs her shoulder, causing Dermot Mulroney's character to give the pair a confused glance. In another, they seem to be happily holding hands, but once they're at a safe distance from the rest of the wedding party, they immediately drop them. "There's no way we can convince anyone we actually like each other," Ben claims. Bea is a bit more optimistic. "Trust me, we're at a wedding, a million miles away from home. Who knows what could happen?" Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney in 'Anyone but You'. Sony Pictures Entertainment/YouTube After all, beneath their obvious aversion to one another, Bea and Ben still have sizzling chemistry. In a final scene, the Euphoria actress leans in for what looks like it will be a kiss, distracting Ben for long enough to smack him in the groin. As he crumbles in pain, she teasingly asks, "Convincing enough?" Anyone but You, which is executive-produced by Sweeney, also stars Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, and Rachel Griffiths. The rom-com walks down the (theater) aisle on Dec. 22. Watch the trailer above. Want more movie news?
