June Diane Raphael and Baron Vaughn have landed roles in Grace & Frankie, Netflix‘s upcoming half-hour comedy toplined by Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. The 13-episode series, created by Friends co-creator Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris (Sullivan & Son) and executive produced by Paula Weinstein through Skydance Prods, revolves around longtime nemeses Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin), whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands announce they are in love with each other and plan to get married.
Raphael, repped by UTA, Silver Lining Entertainment and attorney P.J. Shapiro, will play Brianna, the older daughter of Grace and Robert, who rebels against Grace’s emphasis on appearances and decorum, but despite her keen awareness of who she’s not, she struggles to define who she is. Vaughn, repped by ICM, Mosaic and attorney Isaac Dunham, will play Nwabudike, or “Bud”, as he prefers to be called, Frankie and Sol’s son. Adopted at a young age from Uganda, Bud identifies more as an American Jew than an African man. He works at his father’s law firm, keeps kosher, and often finds himself in the position of perpetual peacekeeper.
Kauffman, Morris, Weinstein, Fonda and Tomlin executive produce Grace & Frankie with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross. Raphael recently recurred on Fox’s New Girl. Her feature credits include Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Bride Wars, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Zodiac. Vaughn’s TV credits include Fairly Legal, and guest spots on Comedy Bang! Bang! and Arrested Development.
