‘Series of Unfortunate Events’: Count Olaf, Lemony Snicket Set Final Season Premiere Date – Unfortunately (Video)

The truth behind the letters “V.F.D.” hits Netflix in January

Netflix’s adaptation of “A Series of Unfortunate Events” will wrap up next year — and some are happier about that news than others.

In a new one-minute, 32-second promo video for the third and final season of the series, Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) and Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) reveal the launch date for the last batch of episodes in the Baudelaire orphan’s saga — much to each other’s chagrin. While Snicket is all about bringing this gruesome story to a close, Olaf is continuing to revel in every last miserable moment.

The archenemies recap the first two unfortunate seasons very quickly, before declaring “we’re almost at the end.” And with those final few installments come answers, including the fate of the Baudelaires and the truth behind the letters “V.F.D.”

Fortunately — or unfortunately, depending on who you ask — this will all be over soon.

“A Series of Unfortunate Events” premiered last year with a 8-episode first season adapting four installments of the 13-book series of novels by Lemony Snicket. The 10-episode second season launched in March, adapting books 5 through 9.

The third and final season of “A Series of Unfortunate Events” launches Jan. 1 on Netflix.
