It's filmed in Wales, for Netflix and BBC One, and is pretty spine-tingling.

So what is Requiem all about, and where exactly was it filmed?

Before you go any further, if you haven't seen or read anything about episode one of Requiem yet, this piece does contain spoilers.

The action in the six-part thriller follows Matilda Gray (Lydia Wilson) who pays a visit to small Welsh town, Penllynith, after her mother shockingly commits suicide in front of her.

After her mother's death, Matilda travels to Penllynith and discovers a mysterious, long-buried secrets connected with the disappearance of a toddler, 25 years before.

Creator and writer, Kris Mrksa, wanted to set the thriller in Wales.

He said: "When I visited Wales, I fell in love with the place. It has a mystical feel, and the history there is very palpable. There is a druidic vibe there, too. Matilda and Hal are quickly drawn into that world and enmeshed in it.

"The Welsh town becomes a character in its own right. It’s the perfect setting for this drama.

In-between being creeped out by the action on screen, we also spotted a few familiar locations and venues. Here's where they are:

Brod, Cardiff

Lydia in Brod, which is in Pontcanna

First off, Matilda and her mother were spotted eating in popular Danish bakery and cafe, Brod, which can be found in the Pontcanna area of Cardiff.

St David's Hall, Cardiff

Doubling up for the inside of a fancy South Bank arts venue, Cardiff's St David's Hall looks grand during the scene where Matilda and Hal (Joel Fry) rehearse for their concert later that day. However, the concert is tragically cancelled when Matilda's mother kills herself.

Cefn Tilla Court

This beautiful 19th Century county house is in Usk and sets up the episode with a haunting chase and suicide scene. It's called Dean House in the show.

Meant to be based outside the fictional village of Penllynith, we see Matilda and Hal weirdly agree to stay in this house after making their way to the town when their interest is piqued by the disappearance of a toddler 20-plus years before.

Dolgellau

Alongside Newport, the north west Wales town doubles for much of Penllynith as Matilda and Hal arrive there in the middle of the funeral of Ewan Dean who inexplicably jumps off the top of Dean House.
