SUBMISSIONS FOR 2023 AWARD
The Endeavour Award is now open for submissions for books published
in 2023!
We require submitted books in electronic form (5 copies if they are
copy protected), which will be shared with our preliminary readers.
We can also accept NetGalley links. No physical copies will be
accepted.
The Endeavour Award now accepts submissions via an
online
form. Separately, PDF and EPUB copies of the entrants should
be sent to [email protected].
Deadline for submissions is March 1, 2024.
The preliminary readers will use a grading system to select a list
of finalists. A trio of judges to be announced will select a winner
from these finalists.
Since 1999, The Endeavour Award has recognized science fiction or
fantasy works of 40,000 words or more, or single-author collections
of short fiction. The author(s) must have had legal or physical
residence in the Pacific Northwest (Alaska, Oregon, Washington,
Idaho, The Yukon, and British Columbia) when the publisher accepted
the book, and must affirm that they wrote the majority of the book
while living in the Pacific Northwest. The books must have been
published in the United States or in Canada with a copyright date
in 2023.
Any questions about the award should be sent to Jim Kling at
[email protected].
We also need preliminary readers! If you’re interested, contact
[email protected].
THE JAMES W. FISCUS MEMORIAL FUNDRAISER FOR THE ENDEAVOUR AWARD EGG TABLE
After 43 years and 71 scholarships, the Susan Petrey Scholarship
Fund is closing down and being disbursed to Clarion West in Seattle
and Clarion in San Diego. But the team that runs the Egg Table at
OryCon, selling plastic eggs containing mystery prizes, has found
that fund-raising, selling lots of eggs, and bringing joy to people
is hard to give up. So the Egg Table team is redirecting its efforts
to helping to fund the Endeavour Award!
If you have stuff that is no longer your favorite stuff, and that
could bring joy into the heart of another fan or a small child,
please consider donating it. Clean stuffed toys are popular, as are
costuming bits, jewelry, handcrafted items, and collectables. The
limit is your imagination, or the room in your home that looks like
a Hoarder's Paradise.
Since Endeavour is sponsored by OSFCI, donations are tax-deductible
and donation forms will be available. All monies raised will go
to the sponsored fund.
Sara Mueller accepts the 2022 Endeavour
Award for her book The Bone Orchard
at OryCon in 2023.
