Leigh Bardugo
Leigh Bardugo is a bestselling American young adult and fantasy novelist.
Bardugo was born in Israel and grew up in Los Angeles. After completing her degree in English at Yale, she worked in copywriting and journalism before embarking on a literary career.
Bardugo is best known as the creator of the Grishaverse – a fantasy world of warring empires and fierce feudal loyalties, modelled after Imperial Russia. After introducing it in her debut Shadow and Bone (2012), which opened the eponymous trilogy, Bardugo expanded the world of the Grisha in the Six of Crows duology (2015-2016), as well as in her 2019 novel King of Scars and 2020 collection The Lives of Saints.
In 2019, Bardugo reached a whole new readership with her bestselling dark adult fantasy novel Ninth House. Hell Bent, the second in that sequence, will be published in January 2023.
Bardugo's phenomenally successful Shadow and Bone series gets a vibrantly illustrated graphic novel prequel that tells the thrilling origin story of the Darkling.
Bardugo's rollercoaster-ride of a follow up to Ninth House ups the ante on sinister intrigue and atmospheric chills as faculty members start turning up very dead very frequently.
