Netflix’s New He-Man Reboot To Be Completely Separate From Other He-Man Reboot And Movie
A recent announcement confirmed Netflix’s new He-Man reboot. There are already being 2 shows coming from the Masters Of The Universe (MOTU) universe. Along with plans of a rebooted feature film on the way as well. Too much MOTU too soon? I guess that’s for fans to decide. But at a time when even one He-Man seemed like too much, we’ve got multiple projects in the works.
It All Started With Netflix’s She-Ra
While the original He-Man was this classic 80’s children’s television show, it was incredibly imaginative. The series served as a gateway for that generation into nerd-culture and fandom in general. So when Netflix decided to create a brand new series as a spin-off featuring She-Ra, it was a no-brainer. Not to mention that the reboot, She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power, is so good that it’s now a Critic’s Choice Award nominated series.

Creator Noelle Stevenson also created She-Ra as a very feminist driven show, while still being completely for kids and adults of all ages. Season 4 of She-Ra recently ended, creating new story opportunities for seasons to come.
Another New He-Man Reboot Is On The Way, In Movie Form
There is a new live-action He-Man movie coming from Sony. The only live-action He-Man feature before this one became a cult favourite, but also massively panned when released in 1987. Starring Dolph Lundgren, it is the only feature film in the franchise. However, there are now plans to reboot the movie in live-action.

Noah Centineo, the young actor who shot to fame in many Netflix originals like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Perfect Date will portray the titular character in the live-action He-Man reboot. We haven’t heard much about that movie in recent times, besides still very much being in production.
One More New He-Man Series Is In The Works At Netflix, As An Anime This Time
The most confusing aspect of this new Netflix He-Man reboot is that the streaming giant is already in the business of another He-Man project. Revealed with much pomp and circumstance at Hero Con last summer, filmmaker Kevin Smith announced his new Netflix He-Man series, set as an anime by PowerHouse Animation.
Masters Of The Universe: Revelation will be a continuation of the classic franchise, bringing an end to the original story, teasing an epic battle between good and evil from He-Man and nemesis Skeletor. The animation style of this new series is set to be in the vein of the Netflix original Castlevania, or the more recent hit, Seis Manos, by the same studio.

Netflix’s New He-Man Reboot Will Be A CG Animated Series
The new He-Man reboot, however, will be an entirely CG based animated affair. Produced by House Of Cool and CGCG, who also did the Netflix original, Trollhunters. We can look to Trollhunters to get an idea of what the new He-Man reboot may look like. The official logline from Deadline’s report for the new show looks to update the Masters Of The Universe mythos for a new generation of fans.
“On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. At the end, who will become Master of the Universe?”
How Much He-Man Is Too Much He-Man?
My only concern with this new He-Man reboot, is whether or not the market becomes too saturated with this franchise? While She-Ra totally carves a new space for itself with a reboot and reworking of the original, multiple He-Man content may get repetitive. Not to mention confusing.

The Kevin Smith version is a sequel. The new He-Man reboot will modernize the story. The feature film, presumably, will also look to stand on its own and be a live-action reboot. I guess only time will tell whether the world can handle so much He-Man.
There is no official release date for Netflix’s new He-Man reboot.
