My Little Pony: A New Generation introduces a whole group of little ponies that are sure to inspire their young audience as much as they will entertain them. There will be music, adventure and, of course, a little bit of magic.

My Little Pony: A New Generation release date

The new My Little Pony movie will be released on Netflix on Friday, Sept. 24. As usual, the movie will begin streaming at 12:01 a.m. PT and 3:01 a.m. ET, but with school back in session, it’s unlikely the family will be awake at those hours to catch the premiere.

Prior to the pandemic, the movie was planned to be released theatrically by Paramount Pictures, but the film was ultimately sold to Netflix to avoid a theatrical run. Because of this new deal, Netflix will release more My Little Pony content in the coming years.

Vanessa Hudgens stars in The Princess Switch movies, Kimiko Glenn voices a character on Centaurworld, James Marsden co-stars in Dead to Me, Sofia Carson headlined Feel the Beat, Liza Koshy had a supporting role in Work It and Jane Krakowski was a stand out in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

My Little Pony: A New Generation synopsis

In the new installment of the My Little Pony cinematic universe, the magical world of Equestria needs to regain its magic, which leads Sunny Starscout to lead the adventure to bring the magic back to their home.

The official synopsis via Netflix:

“The Pony world of Equestria has lost its magic and Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi are living in fear and mistrust against each other. Sunny, an idealistic Earth Pony and Izzy, a curious Unicorn must embark on an epic adventure that will take them to faraway lands to make new friends out of old enemies, all the while proving that magic can be brought to Equestria again and little ponies can make a BIG difference.”
