The streamer is adding a handful of both classics and original films, clearing out some titles leaving in July to showcase an August lineup that’ll help you beat the heat. Grab an icy glass of lemonade and relax with one of these new movies headed to Netflix this August.

This month, Netflix is kicking things off with the John Hughes classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the Chicago movie that takes three high schoolers on a wild ride as they play hooky. Whether you’re into iconic ’80s flicks or true stories about heist masterminds, there’s truly something for everyone — and that’s only on the first day of the month.

Moving into the middle of August, Netflix is debuting the final chapter in their teen rom-com series The Kissing Booth. The Kissing Booth 3 will find Elle Evans (Joey King) making her final decision between the Flynn brothers as she makes her college decision. And right after that, another Netflix film drops on August 13, when the John David Washington action flick Beckett premieres on the streamer. These are exactly the kinds of movies that end up landing on the Netflix Top 10.

To close out the month, Netflix is adding Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed, a doc about everyone’s favorite painter, and He’s All That, a gender-swapped version of the beloved ’90s rom-com. 'Magnolia'

Released August 1

Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia sprawls over three hours long, each second growing more epic than the last. Seriously — that may sound like an incredibly long film to watch, but with brilliant performances and a soothing soundtrack by Aimee Mann, the Oscar-nominated film feels like a normal 90-minute flick. It’s hard to say what, exactly, Magnolia is about, so let’s just say the plot is full of little anthology stories that somehow intertwine. And check out that stacked cast list: Tom Cruise, Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Patton Oswalt, John C. Reilly, William H. Macy and more lead this legendary film.

'He's All That'

Released August 27

Hes All That.

Netflix is remaking the 90s classic She’s All That — with a few twists. Most notably, He’s All That will swap the genders, meaning it’ll be the popular girl who has to remake and date a schmuck of a teenage boy (which, let’s be honest, makes more sense when it comes to high school dynamics). TikTok’s Addison Rae and Cobra Kai‘s Tanner Buchanan will play opposite one another. With any luck, we’ll also get another stunning red dress sequence paired with “Kiss Me” — or maybe we’ll get an Addison Rae original like “Obsessed” instead. Who knows!
