The 2021 Animation and VFX Emmy Nominees Are Announced

The nominees for the 73rd Primetime Emmys were announced by the TV Academy virtually by Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones. As in previous years, The Simpsons, Big Mouth, Bob’s Burgers, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal and South Park made big impressions on the TV Academy voters. The short form category put the spotlight on Love, Death + Robots, Robot Chicken, Once Upon a Snowman and Maggie Simpson in The Force Awakens from a Nap.

Overall, Netflix’s The Crown and Disney+’s The Mandalorian tied with the most nominations with 24.

Final voting by members of the Television Academy will run from August 19-30. The Primetime Emmys will air live Sunday, September 19, on CBS and will stream on Paramount+. The Neighborhood star Cedric the Entertainer will host the show, which will be held in-person at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, featuring a limited audience of nominees and their guests.
