Is the PlayStation 5 next-gen gaming?
The PlayStation®5 release date is almost here. Sony's Jim Ryan has confirmed it will be this "holiday" period, so the time to pre-order is today.
This news has Sony gameplay fans excited, with the company promising a next-gen console that's a "game-changer". And if they’re new campaign The Edge is anything to go by, the PS5 has certainly hit that mark.

What are the next-generation details?
With the PS5™ console upon us, it's a big time for those who love video games. For Sony Playstation® fans, the PS5™ will offer a heap of technology that backs up Sony's next-gen claims and showcases the company’s desire to push the boundaries of gaming. Sony likes to keep things close to their chest, so not a lot of detail about their new console has been released. But industry sources have revealed a few details:
• It will run on an 8 core AMD Zen 2 3.5Ghz chipset
• It will include a 16GB GDDR6 memory
• The architecture includes a custom RDNA 2 GPU and an expandable NVMe SSD.
That all means a heap of extra power, fast load times, ray tracing technology, high frame rates, and a game speed you'll marvel at. All this is on the back of 825GB SSD storage, up from the 500GB HDD of the PS4.

Will there be new PS5™ games?
Of course there will. And they’re innovative, great stories and all transport players to new worlds. A lot of the big titles already have PS5™ single and multiplayer games in development, such as NBA 2K21, Spiderman: Miles Morales, Resident Evil, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Gran Turismo 7.
