Captain Marvel star Brie Larson's directorial debut hits the streaming service, as well as David Attenborough's new documentary series Our Planet
After a run of bombastic months from Netflix, April proves a little quieter. You could be forgiven for thinking schedulers were giving the final season of Game of Thrones a very wide birth. Nevertheless, there's still a couple of big names to carry the month.
While Captain Marvel is still proving a huge box office draw, and with Avengers Endgame imminent, the timing couldn't be better for Brie Larson's directorial debut, Unicorn Store (5 April) to land on the streaming giant. Larson plays an art-school student with a unicorn obsession whose life takes a weird turn when Samuel L Jackson (her Captain Marvel co-star, coincidentally) offers to sell her one.
Course, there's big names and then there's Sir David Attenborough. Netflix have scored quite a coup getting the national treasure's latest documentary series, Our Planet (5 April). Best watched in HD we would imagine, the 10-part show takes a deep dive into the lives of wolves, dolphins, polar bears and orchid bees, among others.
Keep an eye out for other new originals like comedy Special (12 April), Nordic noir Quicksand (5 April), part two of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (5 April) and Gina Rodriguez's comedy Someone Great (19 April). Meanwhile we'll otherwise be watching the trailer for Stranger Things season 3 on repeat and getting hyped.
