We rely on advertising to make many of the CBS Services available to you. By using some of the information we collect and receive related to you (as described in our Privacy Policy), as well as the information collected automatically through cookies and other tracking technologies , CBS (and our service providers working on our behalf) try to deliver advertising that is personalized for your interests in the hope that it will be more relevant and useful to you.

THIRD PARTY PERSONALIZED ADVERTISING

When personalized advertising is based on information collected about your activity outside of the CBS Services by an advertiser, shopping site, search engine, social network, or other third party site or service (“Third Party Personalized Advertising” or “Cross-Site Personalized Advertising”), those third parties use cookies and other online tracking technologies to access a unique identifier associated with your device (for example, the device’s IP address, a cookie ID for a cookie stored in a web browser on your device, or an advertising ID associated with your mobile device that can be reset by you) in order to match you to a profile they control and decide which ads you should see.

These third parties may also collect some of the same information that we collect through cookies and other tracking technologies. Once third parties collect this information, they control how it is used for Third Party Personalized Advertising. We require third parties who collect information on the CBS Services to provide opt-outs from the use and sale of information, or other controls, as described below.

Set do not Track Signal

Mobile Devices, Table, Connected TVs, Gaming Consoles, and Other Digital Media Streaming Devices

When you use a dedicated app on an Internet-connected device, the provider of the app may use an advertising ID or other methods provided by the device or platform to identify you (instead of cookies).

In some cases you’ll be able to opt-out of personalized advertising for all applications on a device. In other cases, you may have the option to opt your platform account out of personalized advertising across multiple devices. You may also have the option to reset your advertising ID, which is a non-persistent identifier used specifically for advertising that can be reset by the user.

Here are some of your options and how to use them on a number of platforms and devices:

Limiting Ad Tracking

If you choose to enable Limit Ad Tracking, Apple’s advertising platform will opt your Apple ID out of receiving ads targeted to your interests, regardless of what device you are using.

For iOS & iPadOS:

For Apple TV:
  • “Settings” > “General” > “Privacy” and turning on “Limit Ad Tracking”
For macOS:
  • Apple menu > “System Preferences” > “Security & Privacy”, clicking “Privacy”, and selecting the “Limit Ad Tracking” checkbox

When “Limit Ad Tracking” is enabled on iOS 10 or later, the Advertising Identifier is replaced with a non-unique value of all zeros to prevent the serving of targeted ads.

Resetting Your Advertising Identifier

You can also choose to reset your Advertising Identifier, in which case your device will generate a new random identifier. The data associated with your previous Advertising Identifier will not be linked to your new identifier.

  • “Settings” > “Privacy” > “Advertising”, then tap “Reset Advertising Identifier”.
For Apple TV:
