The Expanse: Season 4 Videos

Tv Season Info

Season 4 of The Expanse, its first as a global Amazon Original, begins a new chapter for the series, with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don?t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.

Critic Reviews for The Expanse Season 4

All Critics (26) | Top Critics (3)

"The Expanse" takes it as an opportunity to reinvent itself as needed and preserve what's worked all along. It's a show that spends plenty of time dissecting the complications with changes in the very nature of gravity.

What's particularly impressive about The Expanse is, though the plots sometimes go all over the place, you'll reach a point where you suddenly realize you love these characters.

[S]mart and immersive as ever.

In an age of peak television when everyone keeps asking what the true successor to Game of Thrones is, The Expanse has managed to become precisely that, though with far less fanfare than its fantasy-based counterpart at HBO.

The Expanse Season 4 is a revival done right, and one that will keep you enthralled as you try to speculate where things are going.

Dec 17, 2019 | Rating: 4.5/5 | Full Review…

The Expanse explodes off the screen with high sci-fi drama and action in order to tell us a big, fat, epic love story.

Evocative and mysterious, "New Terra" is a wonderful re-introduction to The Expanse's slow-burn storytelling, and proof that a new home hasn't fundamentally changed television's best science fiction series.

The Expanse is living and thriving, and that's very good news.

The season 4 premiere is full of drama and excitement. It's a great welcome from a long wait.

Dec 16, 2019 | Rating: 10/10 | Full Review…

The Expanse acts as a handy litmus test because it is plot-heavy science fiction about terraforming and gravity sickness and alien architecture, but it also has one of the most racially diverse casts on TV, and it's explicitly about colonialism

While political squabbles aren't the most fascinating part of the narrative, the wild wild west dynamic really ramps up the tension.

The Season 4 premiere "New Terra" was just as brilliant as I anticipated. It was rife with breathtaking visuals, Avasarala's snarky expletive-laced one-liners, new supporting characters and a new planet ready for exploration

This was a compelling season with a number of imaginative twists. I was completely appreciative of the way they kept all of the characters I love still in prominent storylines if not working together. Bobbie's troubles on Mars and Christjen's on Earth were as engaging as those with the crew of the Rocinante or Drummer and the OPA. Thank you for a very intelligent and exciting 10-episode arc.

Was enthralled for every second, the best season of TV I have ever experienced.

Loved Season 4, but did not like the substitution of another actor for Brian George (Chrisjen Avasarala's husband). Couldn't they have just left the character out or PAID him? Bezos has enough $$$.

    Awesome! Glad Amazon rescued it.

I have already watched the entire season and can't wait for season 5! Great character development, strong story, and awesome images! Going to Amazon Prime was the best thing to happen to The Expanse!

The best season so far! (And I must say it's based on my least favorite book of the series, so the show-runners did an amazing job!)

Resurgiendo muy fuerte de la cenizas, la calidad se mantiene. Es la mejor serie espacial que se puede encontrar en la industria.

I love the series and Season Four is still really great TV but for me, there is far too much filler and melodrama which puts Season 4 in a solid 4th place of all the seasons so far. Like I say, it is still a fantastic show and Season Four started off really interesting but by the time we get to episode four/five it began to get annoying having the crew of the Rocinante be the only ones who can do anything. The scenes where people are losing their moral suddenly get reinspired to go on with a short talking to by Naomi, Jim or Alex and it got old fast. Dominque Tipper seemed good at first to me, as Naomi but now her acting seems more akin to Coronation Street (soap opera) than it does to high concept Science Fiction. That may be the fault of the writing but once you see it, you cannot unsee it. Everything else is pretty good, such as Amos, Murtry, Drummer, Ashford, and Miller/TheInvestigator, as well as the concept of heading to a new planet in general, bringing the same issues along with them. There is still a lot to love about the show, I just hope this isn't where it begins to dip in quality and I do not mean the visual effects which were really good I hope this is not a warning for things to come with its move to Amazon Prime. I'm really worried.

One of the Greatest and most realistic (in certain ways lol) Futuristic Space Sci Fis of our time. James Holden, Naomi Nagata, Alex Kamal, Amos Burton, Chrisjen Avasarala, Roberta "Bobbie" Draper and (Ghost of) Detective Joe Miller, are the greatest characters ever brought to Tv. Drama, Action, Science Fiction, this show goes over and beyond our own solar system and gives you a peek at what lies past the stars and a glimpse into Alien life 1.5 billion years before our own. ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BRILLIANT!
