Carmen Sandiego will be returning to steal another day, this time on Netflix in 2019. A reboot of the popular animated series from the 1990s is being produced by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt together with Canada’s DHX Media.

The 20 x 22-minute show will follow Carmen Sandiego as she pulls off a new series of international capers. The new series will also include a look at Sandiego’s past and why she became a thief. Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) will star as the titular character, with Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) playing Carmen’s chief accomplice and friend.

Duane Capizzi (The Batman) is co-executive producer and showrunner, while CJ Kettler (The Tick) will serve as executive producer.

The series was a famous computer game created in 1985 before being turned into a kids game show for PBS called Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? It ran from 1991 to 1995 with five seasons and 295 episodes.

It isn’t the only series being revived from the 1990s on Netflix with Bill Nye Saves the World launching this Friday and a Magic School Bus reboot currently in production.
