Much Launches New Music Anthology Series ICONS, Debuting November 17

– Documentaries and performance specials featuring music's biggest names headline Friday nights on Much –
– Premiering with acclaimed The Tragically Hip documentary, LONG TIME RUNNING, ICONS debuts November 17 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT –

TORONTO (November 1, 2017) – Comprehensive and candid, Fridays on Much is the home of ICONS, a new weekly anthology series of artist-focused documentaries and performance specials. Headlining Friday nights in the 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT timeslot beginning November 17, ICONS showcases prominent Canadian and international music artists, including The Tragically Hip, Whitney Houston, Harry Styles, The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, Bruce Springsteen, Sam Smith, and more.

Joining VICE NEWS TONIGHT, SOUTH PARK, SIDES*, and more on Much’s stellar fall lineup, ICONS adds to the strong topical programming and entertaining content that Much delivers to its audience. Since the launch of the fall schedule this September, Much’s full-day audience has grown by 18% in the key Adults 18-49 demo, while primetime has grown by a massive 50% with total viewers.

ICONS debuts with LONG TIME RUNNING, the emotional documentary about iconic Canadian band The Tragically Hip and their pivotal final tour. Additional specials in the queue for the anthology series include MURDER RAP: INSIDE THE BIGGIE & TUPAC MURDER, WHITNEY: CAN I BE ME, and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: IN HIS OWN WORDS, with more titles still to be announced including artists Harry Styles and Sam Smith.

Commissioned by Bell Media, LONG TIME RUNNING chronicles The Tragically Hip’s iconic 2016 Man Machine Poem tour and emotional final concert in their hometown of Kingston, ON after the band’s announcement that lead singer Gord Downie was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer. From Heriot Bay, BC to Gros Morne, NL to Moosonee, ON, viewers are given a unique and exclusive perspective into The Tragically Hip’s world through interviews, verité, intimate behind-the-scenes moments, fan testimonials, audience experience, and performance footage.

MURDER RAP: INSIDE THE BIGGIE & TUPAC MURDERFriday, Nov. 24 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PTSpecial Premiere
Two of the most notorious unsolved cases in the history of American crime – the murders of renowned rap stars Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls – have been the subject of exhaustive investigations, relentless speculation, and a web of conspiracy theories and dark secrets.
