Well racing fans, the talk over the last year or so hasn’t just been idle chit chat, and Universal’s second most successful franchise will indeed be 10-films long. As is customary for the series, the news comes courtesy of star Vin Diesel’s Instagram account, where tonight he revealed the release dates for the next three Fast & Furious films. As previously announced, Fast 8 drops April 14, 2017. Fast & Furious 9 will follow it on April 19,2019, with Fast & Furious 10 coming April 2, 2021.
Diesel long said that Fast 8 was intended to form the first installment of a trilogy that will bring the series to a conclusion after 10 films. That plan, he says, is in part meant to honor the memory of Paul Walker. That’s very touching, but of course the biggest factor in the decision isn’t sentiment, but money. Luckily for Diesel, the last installment, 2015’s Furious 7, was a huge hit for Universal that went on to earn $1.516 billion worldwide. Even so, the studio has until now declined to make it official official, though they’ve largely been treated as more or less inevitable.
Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray is directing the next installment of the series, Fast 8, with the full cast including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham expected to return. Neil Moritz is producing with Diesel.
Remember when he was too good to do sequels??? Yikes…
no.
VD remembered that his last film bombed so that that it finally proves to him that he’s no movie star. Just a poser in a fast car, in a car chase, and that’s all he’s good at, so he’d better make the same car movie for another set of three because no one will give him another movie.
I think your a poser DE your just jealous vin diesel is just fine he doesn’t get any other movies because he is to busy making these movies for your entertainment
Just…why?
Good for fans of the series. The last few installments have been nothing short of fun movies and I’m glad they finally plan to end the series. As a fan of the series since the very beginning even I don’t want this franchise to go on forever and ever
20 years is like forever and ever in hollywood, nobody else does this, its stupid.
I don’t know how they do it but these movies are always more entertaining than I expect them to be.
2021? The world will be destroyed by 2021. No more movies or anything for that matter.
The movies suck but at least it keeps Vin Diesel out of quality movies.
Good God after 8 it will be over. 7 was only a billion dollar movie because Paul Walker died and people wanted to see his last movie as well as how they were going to handle him not being there to finish. Diesel needs to stop using a dead man to sell his franchise, it is pathetic already. He needs new material, a new look or he may as well retire from acting. There won’t be a 10 and I am doubtful about a 9.
Am waiting……8…9….10
Every one is waiting for Fast & Furious next sequel and Vin Diesel’s action and stunt.
-.- To be honest, Fast 7 is a good way to end it….8,9,10 it’s getting ridiculous now….
Looking forward to seeing each and everyone of the Fast and Furious films. Loved all seven of them. But Paul Walker will be missed!
