With a 16th week at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (featuring T.I. and Pharrell) boasts the longest reign atop the tally since Nielsen data began fueling the chart in December 1992.
 
Mary J. Blige held the record for more than seven years with "Be Without You," which ruled for 15 weeks in 2006.
 
All charts, including Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, will be refreshed tomorrow (Sept. 26) on Billboard.com and Billboard.biz.

A couple of recent hits came close to the mark: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" (featuring Wanz) and Rihanna's "Diamonds," each of which posted a 14-week run at No. 1 within the last year.
 
The longevity of "Blurred Lines," Billboard's top song of the summer, has proven to extend into fall. The smash has sold 5.8 million downloads in its 26 weeks of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It continues its radio dominance with a 10th week atop R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.
 
The Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart dates to 1942, when it originated in Billboard magazine as the "Harlem Hit Parade." Since, just four other songs have linked dominations of at least 16 weeks (and all in the 1940s): Joe Liggins and His Honeydrippers' "The Honeydripper (Parts 1 and 2)" (18 weeks, beginning the week of Sept. 8, 1945); Louis Jordan and His Tympany Five's "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie" (18 weeks, Aug. 24, 1946) and "Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens" (17 weeks, Jan. 4, 1947); and Lionel Hampton and His Orchestra's "Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop" (16 weeks, March 16, 1946).
