Mumford and Sons to headline Radio 1's Big Weekend at Exeter's Powderham Castle
Mumford and Sons will headline BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Exeter.
They'll play the main stage on 28 May and it'll be the first time the band has performed at a Big Weekend. Coldplay headline the Sunday.
The announcement was made during the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills.
Other acts confirmed for Europe's biggest free ticketed event include The Weeknd, Iggy Azalea, Nick Jonas and Jess Glynne.
Marcus Mumford says: "I've never been to Radio 1's Big Weekend so we've got a lot of catching up to do… I wanna make up for it with five years worth of riders.
"We're really excited, thanks for inviting us, it's going to be great."
They are also going to organise a backstage football match.
"We play football every day off we get really on tour with our crew," Marcus says.
"If we can organise some kind of game, get Jake Bugg, little Buggy involved, he loves his football, he's playing."
Catfish and the Bottlemen will play on Sunday, along with The Weeknd, Ellie Goulding and Years and Years.
Years & Years current tour has seen frontman Olly Alexander wear a number of different outfits which are all coming to Devon.
"I can't wait. I will bring every outfit I've ever worn. I will do 20 costume changes like Mariah," he says.
"Exeter is a lovely place. We've played a few shows there. It's always good in Exeter I am very excited."
Iggy Azelea will be playing on Sunday and is pleased she can now tell her fans.
"I knew that I was coming over for this but I couldn't tell anyone, and I'm very bad at keeping secrets," says Iggy.
"So I'm glad this is one less secret to keep. This will be the first time that I'm going to come back for a while."
All the acts for the main stage have now been revealed.
Tickets for Powderham Castle were snapped up within an hour of going online earlier this month.
Twenty-five thousand were available for each day.
The only way to get into the event now is through giveaways on Radio 1.
The station has advised people against buying tickets from touts and online sellers after a number of tickets appeared on the internet.
