A star is born: Assembling the downtown Macy's holiday star
Macy's Downtown Seattle has displayed a star-shaped light on its roof since 1957. The 160-foot-tall, 60-foot-wide star has 3,800 bulbs along its 32 arms, with a large 1,000-watt halide center bulb. (Lindsey Wasson & Corinne Chin / The Seattle Times)
