The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug DVD & Blu-ray release date

Warner Bros has now confirmed when we can expect the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug. The film is set to be made available in the UK from Monday April 7th. It'll be available on DVD, Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and via digital download, as you might expect.

Naturally enough, the DVD is a bit stingy, with only part 2 of the New Zealand: Home Of Middle Earth feature planned for the disc (well, on top of the film). If you opt for the Blu-ray, you get the same feature, as well as 'Peter Jackson invites you to the set', production videos and an Ed Sheeran music video. It's little secret that there'll be extended cuts of each of The Hobbit films, and once more it seems that some supplements are being held back for that.

The final part of The Hobbit cinematic saga, There And Back Again, will be released in cinemas on Friday 12th December 2014.
