EMI lay-offs reportedly occurred today according to sources at the Universal-acquired label.

The report comes from the US, where Billboard says that insiders have cited lay-offs in their double digits.

However, one source said that nine people were let go yesterday “including a few each in international, Latin and at the label,” the publication says.

EMI senior VP of international marketing Matthew Tilley and EMI senior VP of sales Saul Shapiro are among those said to have left the company, according to Billboard.

UMG cut staff members back in October last year following the EMI merger. Music Week sources close to the company said that cuts affected around 40 employees in the US.

A Universal spokesperson was unvailable for comment at the time of writing.
