Track Your Release’s Sales:

From the vast volumes of data collected each week, the Official Charts Company generates the music industry’s definitive market data. These are the figures published by the BPI, ERA and the BVA in their statements on the health of the UK’s entertainment business.

This data is used by all of the key record and video labels and entertainment retailers in the UK (and some overseas) to assess the success of their activity, on a day-by-day, week-by-week basis.

As well as traditional purchase to own sales information, the Official Charts Company is also bringing a wider range of additional intelligence to the industry. This includes plays data supplied by streaming services and reflects paid for and ad-funded access.

This vast array of data is not available to members of the public on an ad-hoc basis, but can be accessed by record labels, video companies, retailers, managers, publishers and other bona fide music and video businesses in a range of ways.

Sales Analysis – these are one-off reports available to music and video businesses providing total sales figures, cumulative or by week, with a range of breakdowns available (day of week, region, format or retailer type). As long as all of the details of your release have been registered correctly we can provide a sales analysis package - please contact us for further details on the options available. Please note that there is a charge for all sales data, however if you are a BPI, BVA, ERA or AIM member there will be discounts applied.

Sales Flashes - Midweek information (otherwise known as Sales Flashes) is available from Tuesday through to Friday in any given chart week providing the most up to date sales totals to the end of the previous day. Midweek sales data for a specific release can be provided on an ad hoc basis, however the full sales flashes are only available to subscribers to the Official Charts Online or Topline subscription service (see below). Midweek data is highly confidential and is for the individual company’s internal use only and is not for media publication.

Published Charts - a variety of specialist and bespoke charts covering both the audio and video markets are available either on an on-going or ad hoc basis via email. It is also possible to receive charts straight to your mobile phone on a subscription basis, again this is only available if a company subscribes to the Official Charts Company Online service.

Official Charts Online subscription - an annual subscription to the Official Charts Online service provides access to the full depth of data being gathered every week. This is ONLY available via an annual subscription.

Official Charts Topline subscription – an annual subscription to the Official Charts Topline service provides market and title level data for the last 13 weeks, being suitable for smaller companies. For further Topline information please click here.
