Admission includes access to the Capitol Skyline's large pool, but a spot on one of the sun loungers that surround it isn't guaranteed. The fireworks conclude with the 1812 Overture.

  • Red White and Boom - Music Event
The annual Red White and Boom Independence Day party is moving to Kastles Stadium on the Southwest Waterfront this year. There will be an extra smooth vibe this year, courtesy of Yacht Rock Revue, an Atlanta group that's become famous for its note-perfect covers of songs by Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Hall and Oates and other '70s soft-rock heroes. Also on the bill: Southern pop-rock group the Morrison Brothers Band, Nashville-based singer/songwriter Drew Dixon and DJ Ricky Schramm. Tickets include a five-hour open bar, beanbag-toss games, bocce and access to food trucks. If you buy tickets in advance, you can also attend a July 3 party at Mason Inn with an open bar from 8 to 10 p.m.

In addition to talks about Gormley's work, the party includes models showing off fashions by British designers, screenings of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" in the auditorium and DJ Danny Harris of Fatback spinning British music. Tickets include all activities but not the special beer of the night: local brewery Chocolate City's 1814 ESB. (1814 was, of course, the year the British invaded Washington and burned the White House and the Capitol, so it's hard not to see this as gloating.)
