Year: 1983
We could've gone with "Blue Monday" ("I thought I heard your words") or "Bizarre Love Triangle." Appearing as an "instrumental" on New Order's 1983 album Power, Corruption & Lies, "Ecstasy" was a vocoder on a tone bender, caterwauling across the track. "I've lost my way."

Really? In a list of 50 you left off Peter Frampton's "Do you Feel Like We Do" and Stillwater's "Mindbender"? I mean, you went all the way back to 1936, but couldn't include those two classics from the 70's?

Peter Frampton's "Do you Feel Like We Do" and Stillwater's "Mindbender" use the Talk Box.. not a Vocoder. Similar sound but totally different machines.

Great list. How could you possibly leave out ELO and Mr Blue Sky (amongst countless others)?

On what planet does a top 50 vocoder list NOT include a single DJ Quik track? List is officially null and void. Don't pass go, don't collect $200.
