SINGLE ‘LIES OF THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE’ TO RADIO MONDAY APRIL 18TH

Sony Music is excited to announce the forthcoming album from Nikki Sixx and SIXX A.M, ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’, which will be released in Australia on May 6th, 2011. The follow up to ‘The Heroin Diaries’, ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’ delivers aggressive and sweeping guitars, twisted and dark lyrics and incredible musicianship and song-writing synonymous with the band.

SIXX A.M is comprised of musical Icon and Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx, Guns and Roses guitarist, DJ Ashba and James Michael. The band released their debut album ‘The Heroin Diaries’ in 2007 which successfully sold almost 350,000 copies in the United States and spawned the biggest rock track of 2008 “Life Is Beautiful” which was a #1 hit overseas.

The first single from the forthcoming album “Lies of the Beautiful People,” heads to radio on Monday April 18th; the track introduces the overriding themes of the album which tackles contradictions in society with Sixx urging listeners to look beneath the skin.

In conjunction with the new album release, Sixx will release “This Is Gonna Hurt: Music, Photography And Life Through The Distorted Lens Of Nikki Sixx”, a follow up to his New York Times bestseller, ‘The Heroin Diaries’, through Harper Collins on April 19th, 2011. The book, part chronicle and part journal accompanies the album soundtrack and features a series of confronting images all shot by Sixx that explore distortion, amputation obesity, addiction, pain and questions what defines beauty. The talented muso and radio host now proves himself as a true multifaceted talent, adding photographer to his resume.

“I’ve always had an eye for the oddities in life. Even as a kid I saw the world in my own way and thought most things that were different were beautiful and magical. Even things that other people thought were horrifying and disgusting and weird. . . . People say I have a distorted lens. I think I see things as they really are,” said Sixx. He continues, “I felt the need to bring my visions to life. This project is raw, it’s what I see and feel through writing, through photos, through video and through music.”
