American Council of Learned Societies

The American Council of Learned Societies is a private non-profit federation of sixty-six national scholarly organizations. The mission of the ACLS, as set forth in its Constitution, is "the advancement of humanistic studies in all fields of learning in the humanities and the social sciences and the maintenance and strengthening of relations among the national societies devoted to such studies."

Coalition on the Academic Workforce

First organized in 1997, the Coalition on the Academic Workforce is comprised of higher education associations, disciplinary associations, and faculty organizations committed to addressing issues associated with deteriorating faculty working conditions and their effect on college and university students in the United States.

Consortium of Social Science Associations

COSSA is an advocacy organization supported by more than 100 professional associations, scientific societies, universities and research institutions. COSSA stands alone in representing the full range of social scientists.

National Initiative for a Networked Cultural Heritage (NINCH)

Although the National Initiative for a Networked Cultural Heritage (NINCH) is now on hiatus, NINCH brought together a diverse coalition of organizations created to assure leadership from the cultural community in the evolution of the digital environment. The Initiative's web site still offers a number of useful resources for anyone interested in the subject.

National Coalition for History

The National History Coalition (formerly the National Coordinating Committee for the Promotion of History) has served as a national advocacy office for historical and archival professions since 1982. A consortium of 60 organizations, the NCC represents historical and archival professions on issues involving federal funding and policy issues that have an impact on historical research and teaching, access to government information, employment of historians, public policy issues relating to history, historic preservation, and the dissemination of historical information.

National Humanities Alliance

The National Humanities Alliance (NHA) is a coalition of more than eighty associations concerned with national humanities policy. The NHA advocates for support for humanities research and represents its members in matters of policy or legislation affecting work in the humanities. NHA is the only organization that represents the U.S. humanities community as a whole.
