When 30 Seconds to Mars took the stage at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards preshow, they hooked up their Spanish fans with a surprise no one saw coming: a performance from Kanye West.

Although stage-crashing awards shows is a storied pastime for the superstar MC, this time, he was actually invited.

Sporting a white T-shirt, dark pants and ropes of gold chains, his favored jewelry as of late, West burst onto the stage near the close of his 30STM collabo "Hurricane" and began spitting, to the delight and surprise of Madrid fans.

Then 30STM frontman Jared Leto, decked out in an all-white ensemble punched up with black zippers, told the crowd 'Ye didn't trek halfway across the globe for nothing before letting the MC take over the stage for a brief performance of "Power." 'Ye then exited the stage, leaving a mass of screaming fans in his wake, as the band closed the show in a rain of confetti.

In September, Leto described to MTV News what it was like to work with the hip-hop lyricist on the "dope-ass song."

"Let's put it this way: It's a collision of two worlds, and I think it's a completely unexpected surprise," Leto said. "[West]'s not only on the track, but he's phenomenal on the track. ... It's one of the strongest things that he's done, in my opinion.

"His singing is incredible on it, and he's done a lot of really wonderful work, and I think this only adds to his work as a whole. ... Working with him was an incredible experience."

The 2010 EMAs will air on MTV2 on Sunday (November 7) at 9 p.m. ET, and an edited, performance-heavy version will be broadcast Friday, November 12, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
